Andrzej Szeptycki was a researcher at our institution from 1962 until his death in 2008. He was Director of the Institute (1982-1984), and later Deputy Director of the Institute (1988-1994).

He was one of the most prominent contemporary Polish taxonomist who specialized in the taxonomy, faunistics and morphology of the Collembola and Protura. Particularly the results of studies on Protura fixed his position of the indisputable authority.
