Since 1957 until the retirement in 2002 in the Department of Experimental Zoology, Polish Academy of Sciences (since 1969 a part of the Institute of Systematic and Experimmental Zoology, now Institute of Systematics and Evolution of Animals). 1988-2002 Head of the Dept. of Experimental Zoology.

Since 1987 Editor-in-chief of FOLIA BIOLOGICA (Kraków).

Research activities of Halina Kościuszko were focused at the distribution, genetics, cytophysiology, and cell cycle of the Paramecium aurelia species complex (Ciliophora, Protista).

She published 55 original scientific papers and conference contributions.
