Stanisław Błeszyński began his career in our institution in 1945. Since 1958 until 1967 he headed the Laboratory of Insects (from 1960 onward: Laboratory of Invertebrates). In 1967 he moved to Germany and was employed in the Zoologisches Forschungsinstitut und Museum Alexander Koenig in Bonn.

Stanisław Błeszyński was a leading authority on the subfamily Crambinae (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae).
