- Systematics, phylogeny, phylogeography, molecular ecology, population and conservation genetics of invertebrates (mainly beetles).
- Ecology, conservation biology, faunistics and population genetics of birds.
- Nature conservation.
Current Research Projects
- Population genetics of saproxylic beetles in natural and managed forests (National Science Centre grant).
- Mechanisms and consequences of hybridization between the Syrian and the Great Spotted Woodpeckers (National Science Centre grant).
- DNA barcoding of Polish beetles (cooperation with Polish Barcode of Life).
- Phylogeography of selected bird and beetle species.
- Effects of natural and anthropogenic environmental transformations on populations of indicator species.
- Scientific foundations of practical nature conservation.
