• Systematics, phylogeny, phylogeography, molecular ecology, population and conservation genetics of invertebrates (mainly beetles).
• Ecology, conservation biology, faunistics and population genetics of birds.
• Nature conservation.

Current Research Projects

• Population genetics of saproxylic beetles in natural and managed forests (National Science Centre grant).
• Mechanisms and consequences of hybridization between the Syrian and the Great Spotted Woodpeckers (National Science Centre grant).
• DNA barcoding of Polish beetles (cooperation with Polish Barcode of Life).
• Phylogeography of selected bird and beetle species.
• Effects of natural and anthropogenic environmental transformations on populations of indicator species.
• Scientific foundations of practical nature conservation.
